Working With Us
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. Your first consultation is a free, no-obligation 1-hour conversation about what's going on and how we might help — available in person (by appointment), phone, or video. There's no cost and no pressure to hire us afterward.
Do I have to come to your office, or can we meet by phone or video?
Whatever works for you. We meet with clients in person by appointment in Richmond, TX, by phone, or by video call. We don't have walk-in hours — everything is scheduled in advance.
What areas do you serve?
We work with individuals and businesses in Richmond, Katy, Sugar Land, Fulshear, Rosenberg, and the rest of Fort Bend County — plus clients anywhere by phone or video.
What should I bring to my appointment?
It depends on whether we're preparing a return, doing bookkeeping, or responding to an IRS notice — we'll tell you exactly what's needed when we schedule your consultation. In general, bring any IRS letters, prior-year returns, and income or expense records that apply to your situation.
How do I send you my documents?
Once you're a client, we'll set you up with secure access to our client portal for sharing documents. Please don't email or upload your Social Security number or tax documents through this website — the portal is the safe way to send anything sensitive.

Tax Preparation
Do you prepare both individual and business tax returns?
Yes. We prepare individual Form 1040 returns and business returns for sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, partnerships, multi-member LLCs, and S corporations. We'll ask about your situation during your consultation to confirm what you need.
Texas doesn't have a state income tax — do I still need a state return?
Not for Texas itself. But if you earned income in another state — from a job, a rental property, or a business — you may need to file a return there too. We'll help you figure out if that applies to you.
Can you help if I never filed a prior-year return, or need to amend one?
Yes, we prepare prior-year returns and amended returns. If you have unfiled returns from past years, that also overlaps with our IRS resolution work — see our back taxes and unfiled returns page for more.
Do you handle cryptocurrency and digital asset reporting?
Yes. If you bought, sold, traded, or received digital assets like cryptocurrency or NFTs, we'll help you report those transactions correctly on your return, in line with current IRS guidance.

Bookkeeping
Do you set up QuickBooks Online, or just maintain it?
Both. Taylor, our QuickBooks ProAdvisor, can set up a new QuickBooks Online account, clean up an existing one, or handle your monthly bookkeeping and reconciliations going forward.
My books are a mess and I'm behind. Can you still help?
Yes — catch-up bookkeeping is something we do regularly. We'll work through your backlog of transactions and get your books current, then set up a routine so you stay that way.
How does bookkeeping help if the IRS ever questions my business?
Clean, well-organized books make tax time faster and give you records to support your numbers if the IRS ever has questions. See our audit representation page for how we help if that happens.

IRS Help
What's the difference between an Enrolled Agent and a CPA?
Both can prepare tax returns and represent you before the IRS with unlimited rights. An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a credential focused specifically on taxation, authorized federally by the IRS. A CPA's license covers broader accounting work and is issued state by state.
Can you talk to the IRS for me so I don’t have to?
Yes. As an Enrolled Agent, Kathryn is federally authorized to represent you before the IRS — handling calls, letters, and meetings on your behalf once you've signed a power of attorney.
What is Form 2848?
Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, is the IRS form that authorizes someone like Kathryn to receive your confidential tax information and speak with the IRS on your behalf.
I have an IRS notice, unfiled returns, or back taxes — where do I start?
Start with a free consultation so we can look at your specific situation. For more detail on common problems and how we help, see our IRS tax resolution pages on notices, audits, back taxes, and payment plans.
