30+ Years at the IRS, Now Representing You

Before founding TNT Tax Specialists, Kathryn spent more than 30 years working at the IRS — in audit, collections, and walk-in taxpayer services. That's where she learned how the agency actually reviews returns, pursues unpaid balances, and works with the public, day in and day out.

Kathryn is no longer with the IRS. Today, she's an Enrolled Agent in private practice, using that experience to help taxpayers in Richmond, Katy, Sugar Land, Fulshear, Rosenberg, and Fort Bend County understand their options and respond to the IRS with confidence.

What Is an Enrolled Agent?

An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax practitioner federally authorized by the IRS to represent taxpayers before the agency, with the same unlimited representation rights as attorneys and CPAs. Enrolled Agents earn the credential either by passing a comprehensive three-part IRS exam covering individual and business tax law, or through qualifying experience as a former IRS employee.

Enrolled Agents must also complete ongoing continuing education to keep their status current. The credential is issued and overseen by the IRS, not by any single state — so an EA can represent clients in any state, before any IRS office.

How That Experience Helps You

Kathryn's 30+ years at the IRS mean she has firsthand experience with how notices, audits, and collection cases are handled. That means she can usually tell you, in plain English, why you received a particular letter, what the IRS is actually asking for, and what a reasonable next step looks like — rather than leaving you to guess. She represents you directly, so you're not the one on the phone with the IRS.

NATP Member

Kathryn is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP), a national organization for tax preparers and Enrolled Agents.
